7. Does Canmore Dance Corps offer trial classes? - NO, we do not offer trial classes. The main reason that we do not offer trial classes is due to registration demand.
8. How are children/dancers placed in Seasonal Program classes? - Our primary focus when placing dancers in Seasonal Program classes is their ability level. We assess dancers' skills to ensure they are placed in an environment where they can thrive and develop. Experience is also a consideration in our decision-making process. While age and social dynamics are considered, they are not the main criteria for placement. It’s important to note that class placements, whether in our competitive or recreational programs, are never solely based on friendships. If your dancer finds themselves in a class outside of their usual social circle, we encourage them to embrace this as an opportunity to forge new friendships and enhance their social skills. Placing dancers according to who they know rather than their abilities can lead to unbalanced classes and potential safety concerns. We strive to create group classes that foster a positive learning environment, where each dancer can grow both individually and as part of a team.
9. How are children/dancers placed in our Classes by the Session? - Generally for Classes by the Session, dancers are grouped based on the advertised age ranges, as most students registering are less experienced. This approach allows us to create a supportive environment for all participants. If we believe that a dancer would benefit from being placed in a different class based on their abilities, we will reach out to you directly to discuss the best options moving forward.
10. How much do dance classes cost? - For our Classes by the Session, fees are displayed directly on the advertisements. For our Seasonal Program classes, a tuition document is posted on our website during the annual registration period (mid June to mid September). To enquire further about fees for our Seasonal Program classes, please contact studio owner Jill Danielson at [email protected]
10. Does Canmore Dance Corps have an (online) store to purchase dance supplies? If not, how can I purchase supplies?
- NO, we do not have an online store. We always have a supply of tights available for purchase directly from our location.
We host an annual consignment sale in the fall, where you can find a selection of consignment items, including footwear and dancewear. While it is possible to purchase supplies online, please note that estimating the correct sizing, particularly for shoes, can be challenging. We highly recommend that you buy dance shoes in person to ensure the best fit. We suggest visiting local dance stores in Calgary, such as Bodythings or City Dancewear, for a great selection of dance shoes and apparel.
